Northern Clark County (4 August 1966)

 

A.T.C. and Mrs. Wilbur Dulek of Washington, D. C., are visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Dulek of Thorp, and Mr. and Mrs. Tony Giokiewicz in Owen. They are enroute to Whidbey, Wash., where Dulek will be stationed with the Navy.

 

Sgt. and Mrs. Clyde Peissig and family of Grand Forks, N. D., are spending a vacation in Curtiss with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Peissig.

 

Mrs. Emil Uhlig of Curtiss, and Mrs. Dan Abel and infant daughter of Marshfield are spending three weeks in Phoenix, Ariz., with Mrs. Uhlig’s daughter, Mrs. Dale Ellison and family.

 

LeRoy Smrstick, who has been assistant roadmaster for the Soo Line Railway in Owen, has been transferred to Hankinson, N. D., as roadmaster. They will move on their return from a vacation in Solon Springs.

 

The Misses Theodora and Stephanie Carlson of Owen have left on a months’ visit in Europe.  For two weeks they will be guests of their grandparents in the south of England.  Their grandparents will take them to Ireland. The two girls are being escorted on the trip by their cousin, Robert Carlson, of rural Dorchester.

 

Recent evening callers at the Clarence Karnopp home in Thorp were Mrs. Chester Hebert of Loyal and Mrs. Clara Miller of Chicago, Ill.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mattes of Milwaukee have been spending their vacation in Thorp with Mr. and Mrs. David Weinberger.  They also were guests of Mr. and Mrs. William Weinberger of Withee, and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Thorson of Owen.

 

Vacation guests at the Henry Czyzewicz home in Thorp have been Mr. and Mrs. Richard Blise and family of Kenosha.

 

Kathy Kobylarczyk and Paula Plansky have returned to Thorp from a vacation trip to Puget Sound and the coastal area of British Columbia.

 

Mrs. John Klouda, who has been assisting her mother, Mrs. Louis Badzinski of Thorp, since her return home from the hospital, has returned to La Crosse.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Layton Asselin of Thorp accompanied their granddaughter, Kathy Sue Deyo, to Antigo, where they spent a week visiting at the Deyo home.  Kathy spent a week in Thorp.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Al Berdal have left for their home in San Diego, Cal., following a two week visit with relatives in Thorp, Stanley, Wausau and Chicago, Ill.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Grabon and Mrs. T. Bauernfeind of Thorp have been spending several evenings lately with Sister Mary Florence in St. Mary’s hospital in Ladysmith.

 

Families from Madison and Milwaukee who are descendants of Joseph Bogumill family, and who originally were residents of the Thorp area, held a family picnic at Hartland recently.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hensel, son and grandson of Salamanca, N. Y., were recent weekend guests at the Ed Deutschlander home in Thorp.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Benarski and family of Detroit, Mich., recently were guests at the Mike Milewski home in Thorp.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Chapin of Milwaukee spent a few days’ vacation in Thorp with Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Vanderhyden.
