Hagen, Herman August (2 October 1882 - 21 May 1966)

 

Funeral services for Herman A. Hagen, 83, of Memorial Home, who died here Saturday, were held Tuesday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home.  The Rev. David Witte of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Globe officiated. Burial was made in the Town of Weston Cemetery.

 

Herman August Hagen was born October 2, 1882, in Winter Bach, Germany, coming to the United States in 1906.  He located in Chicago, Ill., where he worked for eight years before coming to Clark County.  He farmed in the towns of Weston and Pine Valley until his retirement, about eight years ago.

 

Mr. Hagen was married in 1906 to the former Mary Wahl in Germany. She died in 1941.

 

Survivors are six children: Mrs. Lester (Lillian) May of Milwaukee, Mrs. Albin (Bertha) Lamovec of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Mary Thoma of Berlin, Herman Hagen and Gust Hagen of Neillsville, and William Hagen of St. Paul, Minn.; a sister, Mrs. Anna Koeb of Long Beach, Calif.; and two brothers, Gust Hagen of Long Beach, Calif., and Ernest Hagen of Costa Mesa, Calif.  Other survivors are 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

 

"What a Friend we have in Jesus" and ‘Nearer My God to thee" were sung by Mrs. Harold Mayer, accompanied by Mrs. Clarence Wegner.

 

Pallbearers were: Jesse Hagen, Dennis Thoma, James Thoma, Lee Mills, Julius Hagedorn and Bennie Schwellenbach.

 

People from away for the service were: Mr. and Mrs. William Hagen of St. Paul, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Lester May of Milwaukee; Mrs. Albin Lamovec of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Mary Thoma, Patricia Thoma, Bonnie, William, James, Dennis and Donald Thoma, all of Berlin; F. Walter of Willard; and Mrs. Alfred Ebert of Black River Falls.
