Mund, Byron (20 February 1888 - 9 May 1966)

 

Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o’clock for Byron Mund, 78, of Neillsville, who died here Monday. The Rev. Fr. Bernard T. Kelly of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will officiate at services from the Georgas Funeral home. Burial will be made in the Town of Weston Cemetery.

 

Mr. Mund was born February 20, 1888, in the Town of Weston, and had been a lifelong resident of the Neillsville area, with exception of the time he served in World War I.  He entered the service in July 1918, and sailed overseas the following October.  He served with the 84th Depot Service Company, returning to the United States in July, 1919.

 

Mr. Mund attended an auto mechanics school in Kansas City, Mo., and after returning to Neillsville was employed at the former Naedler garage.  He also farmed in the Town of Weston, after which he worked in Marshfield, retiring in 1953.

 

He was a member of the Haugen-Richmond Post, No. 73 of the American Legion.

 

On April 3, 1957, he was married to the former Viola Baur Sonnentag in Neillsville.

 

He is survived by his wife; five step-children, Mrs. Betty Zschernitz and Mrs. Allen (Mary) Engum, both of Neillsville, Francis Sonnentag of Osage, Ia., Jake Sonnentag of Collegetown, Wash., and Thomas Sonnentag of Berlin; and by several nieces and nephews.
