Steltenpohl, William H. (17 May 1895 - 29 March 1966)

 

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. from the Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville for William H. Steltenpohl, 71, Pittsville, who died Tuesday in the Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.  The Rev. E. G. Burtness will officiate and burial will be made in the Nasonville Cemetery.

 

Mr. Steltenpohl was born May 17, 1895, in Nebraska.  His parents came to the Nasonville community, where they were engaged in farming.  He attended school in Nasonville, later working at the blacksmith trade and operated a shop in Cholo, and Woodstock, Ill.  The family moved to Neillsville in 1963.

 

He was married September 28, 1916, to the former Rosa Duchow, in Nasonville. She died in 1964.

 

Mr. Steltenpohl recently had purchased a welding shop in Pittsville, which he never opened, due to illness.

 

He is survived by six children: Harold Steltenpohl of Wisconsin Rapids; Mrs. Howard (Vera) Ver Hagen of Lake Villa, Ill.; Mrs. Ivan (Fern) Cowen of Caledonia; Fred Steltenpohl of Racine; Elmer Steltenpohl of Neillsville; and Mrs. Jack (Charlotte) Compton of Daleville.  Other survivors are a sister, Mrs. Adolph (Kate) Duchow of Collins; and a brother, John Steltenpohl of Nasonville; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

 

He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville.

Funeral services were conducted last Friday from the Calvary Lutheran church in Neillsville for William H. Steltenpohl, 71, who died March 29, in Wisconsin Rapids.

 

Pallbearers, all grandsons, were: Ronald Kitzhaber, Kenneth Adams, Dennis and Jerry Steltenpohl, Gene and Gary Ver Hagen.  "Abide with Me" and "I Know of a sleep in Jesus Name" were sung by Mrs. R. E. Heineck, accompanied by Mrs. E. G. Burtness.
