Gorst, June (27 MAY 1923-31 MAR 2012)

 

June D. Gorst, 88, Granton, died peacefully on Saturday, March 31, 2012, surrounded by her family, at the House of the Dove, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, at Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, Rev. Ruth M. Egerer officiated. Music was provided by The Sweet Adelines and Bud Schier. Interment was in the Windfall Cemetery, Granton. Honorary casket bearers were Bobby Feller and Allen Feller. Casket bearers were Shawn Coyle, Jason Gorst, Keith Hagen, Steve Gorst, Justin Gorst, Aaron Gorst, Patrick McCoy and Nathan McCoy.

 

June Delia Arndt was born on May 27, 1923, in Neenah, the daughter of William and Delia (nee Jones) Arndt. Her mother died in childbirth so June was raised by her grandparents, Herman and Amelia Arndt, in the town of Hewett. When she was 12 years old, her father died. She then moved to Menasha to live with her aunt and finish high school in 1941, and then began working for Banta Publishing in Menasha. On Oct. 9. 1943, she married Vincent Gorst at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville. They farmed on Sterling Avenue in the town of Hewett until 1951, when they moved to Granton and owned and operated Vincent’s Standard Station for 11 years. In 1974, they purchased the Ervin Garbisch farm and made it their hobby farm. Vincent died in 1993, and in 2010,June moved to the Marshfield Care Center. She loved music and dancing. She also enjoyed bowling and reading. Most of all, however, she enjoyed spending with her grandchildren and taking them fishing.

 

She is survived by her children, Margaret Beaver, Granton, Lucille (Robert) Feller, Knoxville, Tenn., Gregory (Julie Gorst, Granton, Thomas (Nancy) Gorst, Granton, Marianne Weinfurther, Marshfield, Robert Gorst, Granton, and Delia (Robin) McCoy, Sheboygan Falls; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vincent; a grandson, Ronald Beaver, a son-in-law, Ronald Weinfurtner; and two brothers, William Arndt and Clyde Arndt.
