Schreier, Margaret M. (15 OCT 1960)

Baskets of pink and white gladiolas, purple, yellow and white mums decorated the altar of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Edson (Chippewa Co., Wis.) for the marriage of Margaret Mary Schreier and Peter G. Depa.  Rev. Francis Knopp performed the 9:30 a.m. double ring ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 15, 1960.

Mrs. Arland Wald and Mrs. Harold Samplawski, friends of the bride, sang "On This Day Oh Beautiful Mother" as the bride placed a bouquet on the Blessed Virgin’s Altar and the groom lit the votive light at St. Joseph’s Altar.  The senior choir sang the Nuptial High Mass.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Math J. Schreier and Mrs. Anna Depa and the late Paul Depa, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of white Chantilly lace and nylon tulle over white satin.  The Basque bodice was fashioned with a Queen Anne collar and long tapered lace sleeves.  The bouffant skirt with tiers of ruffled lace in back extended into a brush train.  Her fingertip veil of sheer imported illusion net fell from a headpiece of rhinestones and seed pearl trim.  She also wore white pearl earrings and necklace.  The bride’s cascade bouquet of yellow roses was centered with a white orchid and entwined with her father’s white pearl First Communion Rosary.  She also carried a white crystal rosary, a gift of the groom.

Rita Schreier was her sister’s maid of honor, wearing a floor length strapless gown of rose pink nylon sheer with cover up jacket featuring an Alencon type fitted lace bodice and full bouffant skirt tht draped in front and back with Alencon type lace trim and bows.  Her cascade bouquet consisted of blue and white carnations.

Bridesmaids were Mildred Schreier, sister of the bride, and Mrs. Joseph Andronowitz, sister of the groom.  Their cotillion blue gowns were styled identically to the maid of honor’s and their cascade bouquets were of rose and white carnations.  They all wore headpieces of drop pearls with a full circular maline veil, also tiny sapphire and crystal earring, and each carried a lace handkerchief, gifts of the bride.

SP 4 Joseph Depa, Malibu, Calif., was his brother’s best man.  Groomsmen were Wm. Mickett Jr., friend of the couple, and Joseph Andronowitz, brother-in-law of the groom, and ushers were James Seufzer, brother-in-law of the bride, and Louis Depa, brother of the groom.  The gentlemen attendants all wore dark tuxedoes with white carnation boutonnieres.  The groom wore a yellow rose boutonniere and the bride’s gift to the groom was a rosary and prayer book.

A dinner for 45 guests at 11:30 a.m. was held at the Sacred Heart School Hall, Edson, and a reception for 325 guests was held at the American Legion Hall at Thorp from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m.  The Bloomer Dutchman Orchestra furnished music for the dance in the evening.

The bride’s mother wore a beige acetate and rayon crepe dress with a lace and shirred bodice, with brown accessories.  The groom’s mother wore a light blue print dress with blue accessories and each wore a purple orchid corsage.

Mrs. Howard Forman baked the wedding cake, which was cut by Mrs. Walter Filipek, sister of the groom, and served by Mrs. James Seufzer, sister of the bride.  Mrs. James Seufzer, sister of the bride, presided at the guests book.  Pre-nuptial events included a shower given by the bride’s three sisters at Sacred Heart School Hall, Edson, on Sept. 29.

The bride wore, for going away, a beige knit suit with black accessories and the white orchid from her bouquet.  After a wedding trip to Florida and other Eastern states, including Michigan and Chicago they will make their home on rural Thorp where the groom is a farmer.
