Welzien, Mary J. (24 Jun 1862 - 21 Jul 1928)

 

Mary Joanna Zell was born in Cassin, Pommern, Germany, June 24, 1862, and died July 21, 1928 at St. Joseph's Hospital at Marshfield, of gallstones and cancer of the stomach, age 66 years, 28 days. She came with her parents to the U. S. when about 7 years of age and settled near Lomira, Wis. On Oct. 12, 1882 she was united in marriage to Henry Welzien at Beaver Dam, Wis. In 1887 they moved to South Dakota where they resided about 18 years. They returned to Wisconsin 23 years ago and have made their home ever since on a farm in the town of Reseburg, Clark County.

 

To this union was born 8 children, of which 5 preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, two sons and one daughter, Emil, town of Reseburg, Ernest of Marshfield, Wis., and Mrs. Ervin Strassman of Eau Claire, Wis.., also 9 grandchildren, 3 brothers and two sisters, G. E. Zell of Salem, Oregon, Henry Zell of Shelby, Mont., Otto Zell of Ashton, S.D., Mrs. Wm. Ryman of Mansfield, S.D., Mrs. A. S. Gillette of Washington, D. D., and numerous other relatives.

 

The funeral was held at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Reseburg, Tuesday, July 24th, Rev. Bubeck officiating, interment following in the Reseburg Cemetery.
