Gruba, Martha ( 4 Dec 1878 - 24 Jul 1928)

 

Tuesday, July 24, 1928, a sad event occurred when Mrs. John Gruba, at the age of 49 years, 7 months and 20 days passed away at the call of the Angelus Bell at 6 o'clock in the morning. Mrs. Gruba had been ailing for six months, of which seven weeks were spent patiently in bed. She leaves to mourn her loss, a husband, six sons, Father Bernard O.F.M., Aloysius, John, Louis, Anthony and Clement, and six daughters, Sister M. Ursula, Sister M. Hyacinth, Sister M. Bernard, Cecilia, Agnes and Eleanore, all of who were present. She also leaves an aged father, two sisters and two brothers.

 

Marth Czanstkowski Gruba was born in West Prussia, Dec. 4, 1878 and was married to John Gruba Jan. 22, 1901 at Granville, S.D., where they resided for some time. Later Mr. and Mrs. Gruba moved to Minnesota, where they lived for twenty years, and Sept. 5, 1923 moved to Thorp, Clark County, Wis., on the Mike Kronberg farm.

 

Services were held from St. Bernard's Church Thursday, July 26, at 9:30, Father Muckerheide officiating, after which the body was laid at rest in St. Bernard's Cemetery in the village.
