Family Notes

My Father, Kenneth Wood was born in Vernon County on July 7, 1910, his mother originally spelled his name Kennith and later it was changed to Kenneth.

He had no birth certificate and when he went to work at a defense plant during world war 11, he had to get one.  He had a terrible time obtaining one since he lied his age when he got married, so that info couldn't be used.

On my brother's birth certificate they had his age wrong, so it couldn't be used.

Other than his father there were no witness' that could testify to his having been born, since he was born at home and his mother died when he was 14.  They did finally accept the word of his siblings.

Also they accepted a family Bible but the age of the ink had to be analyzed  and documented by a seal of authority.

To obtain a birth certificate during the war he had to have 3 witnesses, and 5 affidavits with the Wisconsin seal on them.  Which was very difficult as he was 32 at the time.

My mother, Mabel Braunsdorf was born in Door County on March 2, 1913.
