Jonston L. & Mercy (Brand) Stafford

"John" was born 25-May-1818 in Hartland, Somerset Co, ME, the son of Solomon and Anna (Thompson) Stafford.  His father was born 22 Jan 1785 in Guilford, Windham Co., VT and was a school teacher and farmer in Hartland, Somerset, ME.  Anna Thompson married him 3 Oct 1806 in Greene, Androsoggin, ME where she was born 16 May 1791.  They moved to Greene ME ca. 1816, settling in North Hill, Somerset County which was later renamed "Brighton."  Sometime later  thee moved to Hartland where their children were born: Elizabeth Stafford 1807, Horatio Nelson Stafford 1809, Jacob Stafford 1811, Orren Stafford 1813, Joel Thomas Stafford 1815, Solomon Harrison Stafford 1817, Jonston L Stafford 1818, Elias D Stafford 1821, Leonard R Stafford 1823, Richard Thompson Stafford 1825, Nelson Stafford 1827, Albion K Stafford 1827, Martha Ann Stafford 1830, John N Stafford 1833.


John married Mercy Brand (1828).  She passed away in 1865 and he died 8 May, 1875 at Staffordsville, Clark Co., WI.  They are both buried in the Neillsville, WI City Cemetery.
