Simonson, Birchie Chloe (1896 - 1982)


Funeral services for Birchie Chloe Simonson, 85, of 116 Thomas St., Loyal, Clark County, were conducted at 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 8, at Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal. Officiating was Rev. Charles Sanford of the Loyal United Methodist Church. Burial was in Lone Tree Cemetery, Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, handled local arrangements.

Mrs. Simonson died Monday morning, June 7, 1982, at Marshfield Convalescent Home.

Birchie Chloe Hackler was born on Dec. 26, 1896, at Comers Rock, Greyson County, Va., to Robert Joel and Nancah Hackler. She attended the Southern Methodist Church in Comers Rock and received her schooling at Comer Rock and Elk Creek, Va.

She was married to Kilby Hackler in 1912 at Comers Rock, Va.

On Jan. 29, 1916, she was married to Simon G. Simonson at St. Peter, Minn. They farmed in the Greenville and Sioux Rapids area for about 30 years. He died on July 10, 1952.


She then moved to Storm Lake, Iowa and followed a nursing career for 20 years. After the death of her mother and brother, she moved to Loyal in Oct. 1969, where she had lived since.

She is survived by two sons, Clarence J. Simonson of Route 2, Loyal and Emmett G. Simonson of Kalispell, Mont. four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband one sister, Jenaetty two brothers, Cobert and Robert, and her parents.

Serving as pallbearers were Rolfe Bredvick, Irvin Nelson, Wayne rowe, burley Groves and Irving Kundtson.
