Luchterhand, Gerald (1930 - 1981)


Gerald Luchterhand, 51, of Route 2, Spencer, died on Friday, Oct. 16, 1981, in the emergency room at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, of an apparent heart attack.


Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 19, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. Rev. Joseph R. Kraly officiated and interment was in the Lutheran Cemetery.


Gerald Luchterhand was born on July 16, 1930, in the Town of Loyal, Clark County, to Alvin and Laura (nee Brier) Luchterhand. He received his education at Spokeville School and Loyal High school.


He was married to LaVada Danke-Meyer on May 16, 1953, at Granton. She survives.


He farmed all his life in the Town of Loyal.


He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a supervisor for the Town of Loyal and was on the Town Board past president of the Loyal FFA Alumni was a member of the Clark County Livestock Committee a member of the Chili Lions Club general leader and project leader of the Spokeville Stares 4-H Club past president of the 4-H Leaders Federation a member of the Loyal and Christie Snowmobile Clubs and was a licensed airplane pilot.


Surviving him are his wife, LaVada one son, Gary, Route 2, Spencer two daughters, Mrs. Duane (Paula) Brey of Route 2, Spencer and Miss Renee Luchterhand of Marshfield his father, Alvin Luchterhand of Loyal, three brothers, Robert of Granton, Orville of Granton and Melvin of Loyal one sister, Mrs. Donald (Doreen) Schmidtke of Odebolt, Iowa and two grandchildren.


Serving as pallbearers were Frank Arbelovsky, Kenny Voss, Wayne Voss, Jerry Schmitz, Donald Barsch, Russ Haslow, Roland Radtke and Dr. Michael King.
