Myre, Carl (1917 - 1981)


Funeral services for Carl Myre, 64, of 310 Central, Loyal, Clark County, will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 14, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal.


Mr. Myre died at 11:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 10, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.


Officiating at the services will be Rev. H. K. Diemer of Oconto Falls. Burial will be in the Loyal Cemetery with Tom Brussow, Walter Luepke, Jr., Tom Bacon, Rick and Tim Brussow and David Myre as pallbearers. Full military rites will be conducted by the Loyal American Legion.


Visitation will be after 3 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 13, at Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal.


Carl Myre was born at Chippewa Falls on July 4, 1917 and graduated from McDonald High School, Chippewa Falls. He then entered the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science at Milwaukee. After graduation he was employed by the Morris Funeral Home at Chippewa Falls, then the McMahon Funeral Home at Luxemburg for one and one-half years.


He was married to Ethel Diemer on July 22, 1940, at Dubuque, Iowa. In 1942 he entered the U.S. Army and was in the European Theatre, being discharged in Oct. 1945. He then established the Myre Funeral Home in Loyal in 1945 and operated it until 1969.


For a short time he moved to Wausau, then returned to Loyal and started a liquor business in 1970. In 1972 he sold his liquor business and was employed as district manager of Haertel Monument Co.


He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and financial secretary for a number of years. He was past president of the Loyal Rotary Club a member of the Marshfield Elks a member of the American Legion Post, Loyal he was the first alderman elected in the City of Loyal in the third ward, then became city treasurer and served until 1969. He served as chairman of the first annual Corn Festival.


Surviving him are his wife, Ethel one sons, David of Rice Lake three daughters, Mrs. Tom (Roseann) Brussow of Loyal, Mrs. Walter (Carol) Luepke, Jr. of Reedsburg and Mrs. Tom (Nancy) Bacon of Monroe three sisters, Mrs. Lyle (Marguerite) Stensrud of Las Cruses, N.M., Mrs. Elmer (Rosemarie) Smith of Merrill, and Mrs. John (Dolores) Globensky of Chippewa Falls one brother, Edwin of West Bend and ten grandchildren.


Preceding him in death were his parents, Claude and Rose (nee Martin) Myre and one brother.


Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, is handing arrangements.
