Brown, Zipprey (1843 - 1871)

Zipprey, wife of A. L. Brown, died at the residence of her brother, E. T. Bingham, at Medford, Minn., Thursday, Oct. 26, aged 28 years, 3 months.

We chronicle an event of touching sadness in the death of Mrs. A. L. Brown. Weekly and daily the death notices in our public journals move us to sorrowful sympathy and tell of a deeper sadness to the bereaved ones whose friends have gone to the unseen land. But here we have a case of the sudden dissolution of earthly ties, under circumstances of unusual sadness. This community well remembers Miss Bingham, the subject of this memoir, as a lady of refinement, naturally timid and delicate, yet who, in self-helpfulness, maintained herself here in an honorable calling and made hosts of friends. All these were waiting to congratulate her on her marriage to Mr. A. L. Brown, which occurred Sept. 28, 1871. A short visit with her brother, Mr. E. T. Bingham, of Medford, Minn., and then she expected to return here with her husband to make her home in our village (Neillsville, Clark County). On this visit to her brother she was taken with typhoid fever and after a short illness she passed away on Thursday, Oct. 26.

Only four weeks and two days before was her marriage day. Thus in the prime of matured womanhood has she fallen. The fondly cherished hopes and plans of a worthy true-hearted husband are brought to naught, and his desolation awakens our most tender sympathies. His recollection of the short possession of the truest earthly friend can be only sacred. The heart s affections still go out for the departed and what does it argue Can the heart love that which hath no existence.
