Korth, Leo (1891 - 1990)


Leo Korth, 99, Neillsville, died Tuesday July 10, 1990, at Neillsville Memorial Hospital at 7:15 p.m. Funeral services were held Friday, July 13, 1990, at Gesche Funeral Home, Inc., Neillsville. Rev. Linda Kuhn officiated. Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Family members served as pallbearers.


Leo Korth was born Feb. 14, 1891, in Lake Mills to William and Augusta (Jahn) Korth. He received his education at the Reed School and was a graduate of the Wisconsin Short Course of agriculture. He entered the service in WWI. In 1988 he received a special citation from the French government in appreciation of his service in France in WWI. He married Louise J. Schrank on June 2, 1920, in Fort Atkinson. She died in Sept. 1983. He was a member of the United Church of Christ, Neillsville served as past town clerk for the town of grant served as secretary of the Farmers Union Coop was a member of the United Church of Christ s Men s Club and served many years on the church council.


Surviving him are one daughter, Mrs. Gretchen (Raymond) Barth, Whitewater one sister, Mrs. Alice Knoop, Neillsville and six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.


Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, one daughter, three sons, three brothers and one grandson.


Gesche Funeral Home, Inc., Neillsville, handled the arrangements.
