Melvin E. Englebretson, 91, Colonial House Living Center, Colby, died Saturday, June 9, 1990. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 12, 1990, at 1 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Longwood. Burial was in the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Longwood. His niece, Carol Kasper, was vocalist, and Linda Roder, was accompanist. Pallbearers were great-grandsons Rick Hardrath, Randy Hardrath, Tim Hebert, Terry Hebert, Terry Martin and Troy Wusso.
Melvin E. Englebretson was born June 12, 1898, to Christ and Carrie Englebretson, in rural Greenwood. He grew up in that area and married Bessie Butcher June 12, 1922. They farmed in the town of Beaver until they retired in 1967, and continued to live in the town of Beaver until 1984, when they moved to Dorchester, and then to Colby, at the Colonial House Living Center in 1985. Bessie died May 18, 1986. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Longwood.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Earl (Doris) Stafford, Dorchester and Mrs. Paul (Lucille) Kramas, Greenwood one sister, Mrs. Elda Schwarzrack, Colby four grandchildren seven great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother, John, and one sister, Esther Deitenner.
