Volk, Bertha Lydia (1881 - 1961)


GREENWOOD, CLARK COUNTY Mrs. Bertha Volk, 80, a lifelong resident of Greenwood, died Thursday evening, Oct. 19, 1961, enroute to St. Joseph's Hospital from Rib Lake, where she had been visiting her niece, Mrs. Gordon Gehrt.


Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Zion United Church of Christ. The Rev. Orval Egbert will officiate and burial will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.


Friends may call at the Hill Funeral Home from Saturday afternoon until 11 a.m. Sunday, when the body will be taken to the church, until the time of services.


The former Bertha Lydia Wehrman was born Sept. 8, 1881, in Greenwood. She received her education in Greenwood and was married on Nov. 21, 1906 to Val Volk, who preceded her in death in 1937. For the past two years she has been a resident of the Clark County Home for the aged in Greenwood.


Mrs. Volk was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ and its Women's Guild.


She is survived by a brother, Otto Wehrman, Loyal and a sister, Mrs. G (Mary) Abel, Greenwood.


She was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Wehrman and two sisters, Mrs. Caroline Volk and Mrs. Anna Buker.
