Corey, Howard Leason (1898 - 1956)


GREENWOOD--Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church here for Howard Leason Corey, 58, former Greenwood, Clark County businessman, who died Monday night, Nov. 25, 1956, at Memorial Hospital, Neillsville, after a four-week illness. Death was due to cancer.


Friends may call at the Stabnow Funeral Home until noon tomorrow and then at the church. The Rev. Charles Koch will conduct the rites and burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Corey, who was born in Lowell May 20, 1898, had resided in Greenwood since his marriage. He and the former Lee Noah were wed at Wabasha, Minn., July 25, 1927. He operated a garage here from 1930 to 1945, and after selling the business, he worked as a carpenter, painter and mason. He served on the City Council for a number of years.


Survivors include his wife two sons, Gary N., Neillsville, and Pfc. Jack L. stationed in Germany a grandson, Howard, Neillsville and five sisters, Mrs. August (Edith) Lemberg, Loyal Mrs. Chal (Alice) Perkins, and Mrs. (Adolph) Florence Wolski, Greenwood Mrs. Arthur (Sadie) Jacobson and Mrs. Leonard (Olive) Neuman, Milwaukee. On brother, Merein, preceded him in death.
