Johnson, Mabel (1897 - 1962)


GREENWOOD--Mrs. Elmer Johnson, 65, a lifelong resident of the Greenwood, Clark County area, died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 1962 in St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where she had been admitted earlier that afternoon. She had been in poor health for a number of years.


Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Arvid Myhrwold will officiate and burial will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.


Friends may call at the Hill Funeral Home from Friday afternoon until 11 a.m. Saturday, and then at the church.


The former Mabel Johnson was born May 22, 1897, at Longwood, and was married July 18, 1917, in Greenwood to Elmer Johnson, who died Jan. 23, 1960. She was a member of the auxiliary of the Clark County Letter Carriers and of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and its American Lutheran Church Women's group. Mrs. Johnson taught Sunday School here for many years.


She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Erling (Marie) Ellingson, Elmhurst, Ill. six grandchildren two sisters, Mrs. Norris Anderson, Stevens Point and Mrs. Nola Kuehl, Sun Prairie.
In addition to he husband, she is preceded in death by a son, a daughter, a sister and a brother.
