Govek, Appolonia (1879 - 1962)


GREENWOOD--Mrs. Appolonia Govek, 83, Willard, Clark County, died early Wednesday morning at her home. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Hill Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard. The Rev. Mirko Sylvester will officiate and burial will be made in the church cemetery.


Friends may call at the Hill Funeral Home beginning Friday afternoon. A general rosary service will be held there at 8 o'clock that evening.


The former Appolonia Melanz was bon May 20, 1879, in Yugoslavia. She came to the United States in 1901 and settled in Liningston, Mont., where she was married July 20, 1901, to Frank Govek. They came to the Willard area from Sheboygan in March of 1913 and settled on a farm here. In 1947 the couple retired and moved to the village of Willard. Mr. Govek died Nov. 19, 1955.


She is survived by four sons, Joseph, Sheboygan; Anton, West Allis; Louis, San Jose, Calif.; and Frank, Willard; three daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Appolonia) Yeray, Sheboygan; Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Lesar, Willard; and Mrs. Alex (Anne) Mallmann, West Allis; 19 grandchildren 14 great-grandchildren.


A son died in infancy.
