He married Bernice Hintz on June 29, 1939. They lived in the Greenwood Area their entire married life. He was an active member of Immanuel United Church of Christ his entire life. His wife preceded him in death on April 19, 1988. In May 2000, he suffered a stroke that left him unable to care for himself, his home, yard and garden, and he entered the Clark County Health Care Center. He will be remembered by the city of Greenwood residents for his daily walks and his kind, gentle, soft-spoken manner.
