BRAGSTAD FUNERAL


Greenwood--Funeral services for Mrs. Maren Bragstad, 91, who died Friday afternoon, Jan. 31, 1947, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ystad, 5 miles northeast of Greenwood, Clark County, were held Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 5 at 1:30 o'clock at the Shiller Funeral Home and at 2 o'clock at Trondhjem Lutheran Church. The Rev. M. K. Aaberg officiated and interment was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.


During the services Mrs. Daniel Olson, Mrs. Leonard Johnson, and Mrs. Ernest Elmer, accompanied by Mrs. M. K. Aaberg, sang "Sweet Peace, the Gift of God's Love", "It Is Well With My Soul", "Face to Face", and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."


Pallbearers were Henry and Daniel Olson, Carl and Arthur Turnquist and Hoken and Olaf Ystad. Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Edna Meyer, Cameron and Mrs. Arthur Turnquist.
People from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Olson and son, Norman, Loyal, and Melvin Olson, Chippewa Falls.


Maren Anna Jenson, daughter of Ole and Maren Jensen, was born in Trondhjem, Norway, Sept. 14, 1855, the youngest of seven children. On May 6, 1879, she married John Olson Bragstad, coming to America Sept. 4, 1901, and making her home in Neenah.


She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Mrs. John (Thora) Olson of Greenwood in 1919, her son, Ole Bragstad of Oshkosh in 1932, and by two sons in infancy.


In 1919 she came to Greenwood at the death of her daughter, Thora, and made her home with her son-in-law, John Olson, caring for his three children, who survive. They are Mrs. Ralph (Elenore) Ystad and Oscar Olson, Loyal, and Melvin Olson, Chippewa Falls. Nine Great-grandchildren also survive.


Her son-in-law, John Olson, died in Jan. 1941 and since then she made her home with her granddaughter, Mrs. Ralph Ystad.
