KNUDSON RITES HELD THURSDAY


Greenwood Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at United Lutheran Church, Greenwood, for Leonard Samuel Knudson, 67, Owen, Clark County, who died May 7, 1949 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been taken the previous day. The Rev. T. N. Nelson conducted the rites and burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.


Pallbearers were David and Arendt Danielson, Leonard Johnson, Ernest Elmer, and Arthur and Carl Turnquist.


Mr. Knudson was born at Brodhead Dec. 6, 1881, attended schools there, and was married at Brodhead March 21, 1911, to Nina Garner, who died Feb. 18, 1944.


After his marriage he lived at Brodhead for a year and then went to St. Ansger, Iowa. From there he went to Carpenter, Iowa, spending four years there before going to Estherville, Iowa. The next place of residence was Ladysmith. After a year in Montana he located at Greenwood, Atwood, and Withee. His last employment was janitor of the Owen School.


Surviving are four children, Mrs. Howard (Margaret) Ruth, Appleton Nadine, Georgia and Leonard Jr. and Omar, Red Wing, Minn. A son, Leon, died in 1929 and a daughter, Gertrude, in 1937.
