MISS KITTIE KOUNTZ (1876 - 1940 )

Miss Kittie Kountz passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 18, 1940, at the home of Mrs. W. L. Hemphill. She was taken sick on the 20th day of last March.

Miss Kountz was born in Neillsville, Clark County May 14, 1876, to attorney and Mrs. R. F. Kountz. For many years the family lived at the Reddan House and at the Merchants Hotel, later purchasing the property on East Fifth Street, which remained in Miss Kount z possession until her death.

She spent many years in Chicago, where she did fancy work for various stores. She also was employed as desk clerk at the Blackstone Hotel for several years. When her mother became ill, she came home to take the responsibility of her care and the management of the household. She was thus engaged through the illness and death of her father and grandmother, Mrs. Bailey.

Kittie was a delightful friends and neighbor. Even those who were closest to her heard little complaint, though her health had long been poor.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon (Thursday) at two o'clock at the Lowe Funeral Home. Mrs. Lena Steuerwald will read the Christian Science service. Interment will be made in the Neillsville Cemetery.
