IRA WILLIAM STAFFORD


Ira William Stafford, 87, a resident of Neillsville Home since 1969, passed away at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 3, 1977 at Neillsville Memorial Home.


Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, with Rev. David Logue of Zion United Church of Christ officiating. Mrs. Duane Olson and Mrs. Harry Johnson provided musical selections, accompanied by Mrs. Allan Dallman on the organ. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.


Ira Stafford was born to Benjamin and Emma Elliot Stafford at Blairsburg, Iowa, on April 10, 1890.


On June 8, 1911, at Sarona, Wis., he was married to Mable Berg. He moved to Greenwood, Clark County in 1921, where he became a depot agent for the railroad. In Sept. 1923 he became assistant cashier at the Farmers and Merchants Bank, where he worked until retiring in 1943. He lived in Greenwood until he became ill and entered the home in 1969.
He was a 32nd degree mason for over 50 years.


He is survived by one son, Willard of Greenfield, one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.


Serving as pallbearers were Stanley Raik, Bud Brown, Louie Kebl, Julius Hoehne, Brian Stafford and Merrill Hare.


He was preceded in death by his wife, one sister, two half-brothers and one half-sister.


Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, was in charge of arrangements.
