OBITUARY OF MRS. E.J. HAEMER

Edith V. Stark
was born Sept. 14, 1883 at Moline, Ill., where she grew to womanhood. On Aug. 21, 1907 she was united in marriage to Ernest J. Haemer of East Moline, Ill. The couple resided on a farm near Moline for several years. To this union were born two sons, Lloyd of Greenwood and Clyde at home.

Having a desire to build a home of their own, the family moved to Owen, Clark County early in 1920, where they bought an unimproved farm which they developed, and upon which they built a beautiful and comfortable farm home.

Besides being a considerate and helpful neighbor, Mrs. Haemer was a faithful wife and mother, who, though frequent attacks of illness were her lot, was never mindful of her own suffering, but was only concerned to make her home pleasant and comfortable for her loved ones.

She was taken seriously ill Sunday, May 25th, medical aid was called, but her illness became more severe and during the night she was taken to the LeGault Hospital at Owen. Her hopes were entertained for her recovery, however her condition grew more serious and early Tuesday morning her husband and son Lloyd were called to her bedside. Mrs. Haemer was patient and hopeful to the end and did not consider her illness serious until a few minutes before she passed away, May 17, 1938 at 9:30 a.m. According to hospital attaches complications brought on by an internal tumor were the immediate cause of her death.

She leaves to mourn her early and sudden demise, her husband, E. J. Haemer, her sons Lloyd of Greenwood and Clyde at home. Clyde was visiting relatives at Rock Island, Ill., at the time of his mother's death. One sister, Mrs. Amanda Berry of Barston, Ill., and one brother, and many other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Pfaffman of Owen in the home at 2:00 p.m. Interment was made in the beautiful Greenwood Cemetery near the banks of Black river beneath two towering pines.

The pallbearers were Melvin Englebretson, By Stone, Adolph Schroeder, Joe Kaunik, Wm. And Art Awe. The flower girls were Caroline and Helen Krogness and Lucille and Doris Englebretson.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Schultz, Arnold and Viola of Moline, Ill., Mrs. Ray Noden, Mrs. Karl Noden.
