AUGUST FROEHLICH DEAD


The following two clippings from an Aberdeen, S. D. daily, the first dated Friday, April 13 and the second the day following, tell the sad news of August Froehlich's death. The body was brought home by the stricken father Monday evening. It was only a few weeks since August was home for a visit and left home in as good health apparently as anyone. The funeral was held at the West Side Church yesterday afternoon, conducted by Pastor Schmalz. The remains were laid to rest in the West Side Cemetery, Town of Warner, Clark County. Following are the clipping which give the details:


August Froehlich, a young fireman of the Milwaukee road, died this noon at St. Luke's Hospital of hemorrhage of the stomach. His death was entirely unexpected, as he was thought to be well on the road to recovery from the effects of an operation for appendicitis which he underwent a week ago last Wednesday. His father Herman Froehlich of Greenwood, Wis., was with him at the time of his death. The body will be removed to his home in Wisconsin on Sunday evening. The deceased has two uncles in this city, Fred and Paul Froehlich. He has been firing a years and was lately admitted to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen. He was about 19 years of age. The body will remain at Paul Froehlich's residence, 412 N. Kline Street, until its departure for Greenwood.


The funeral for August Froehlich, the young Milwaukee fireman who died yesterday noon of hemorrhage of the stomach, will be held from the residence of his uncle, Paul Froehlich, 412 N. Kline Street, tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. F. J. Graeber, pastor of St. Pauls' German Evangelical Church, officiating. The remain will be taken from W. H. Wilson's undertaking rooms to the residence at 1 o'clock. All railroad men and other friends are requested to call at the residence during the hour before the service commences.


The deceased was 19 years of age and had been a resident of Aberdeen for two years. He leaves a father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Froehlich of Greenwood, Wis., and three brothers and three sisters, all of whom are unmarried. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen. His remain will be take to Greenwood on Sunday evening, where a funeral service will be held and burial will take place.
