JOHN TOLANEY

Funeral services were conducted at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood, on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 10:30 a.m., for John Tolaney, 75, a former Greenwood, Clark county resident, residing at the Memorial Home, Neillsville.

A prayer service was held at 8 p.m., with a rosary service at 8:30 p.m., Monday by the Knights of Columbus of Our Lady of Fatima Council. Rev. Robert Houston officiated at the service, with burial made in the Holy Family Cemetery, Willard. Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Frank Perushek, Tony Perushek, Charles Perushek, John Tolaney, Joe Tolaney Jr., and George Laken.

John Tolaney was born on Nov. 24, 1901, to the late Anton and Mary Stupica Tolaney. He received his education at the Tioga School. He farmed briefly, then moved to Ottawa, Ill., where he lived for five years before moving to Lyons, Ill., where he worked for the City of Lyon as a Superintendent of Parks and Streets. In 1966 when he retired, he moved to the Greenwood-Willard area. He was never married. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Ottawa, Ill., and a member of St. Mary's Church, Greenwood.

Surviving him are two sisters, Mrs. Angeline Jeras, Lyons, Ill., and Sister Margaret Ann of Baraboo one brother, Anthony of Stevens Point.

He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Tolaney, John (24 November 1901 – 31 January 1977)

A former Willard man, John Tolaney, 75, passed away at the Memorial Home in Neillsville on January 31, where he resided at the time of his death.

Funeral services were conducted at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood on February 1, at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Robert Houston officiated at the service with burial in the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Willard. Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Frank Perushek, Tony Perushek, John Tolaney, Joseph Tolaney, Jr., and George Laken.

John Tolaney was born on November 24, 1901 to the late Anton and Mary (Stupica) Tolaney at Tower, Mn. He arrived as a child with his parents to Tioga, and they settled on a farm where he grew to manhood. He received his education in the Tioga School. He farmed briefly in the Tioga area, then moved to Ottawa, Il., where he lived for five years before moving to Lyons, Il. he worked for the city of Lyons as superintendent of parks and streets until 1966, when he retired and moved back to the Tioga and Willard area. Later, he moved to Memorial Home in Neillsville for six years. He never married. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Ottawa, Il.

Surviving him are two sisters, Mrs. Angela Jeras, Lyons, Il., and Sister Margaret Ann of Baraboo; one brother,
Anthony, Stevens Point, also nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
