BERNARD SCZYPIORSKI (1911 - 2000)


Bernard SCZYPIORSKI, 88, of Thorp and formerly of Stanley and Owen, passed away January 4, 2000, at Victory Medical Center.


He was born in Stanley on May 19, 1911, the son of Martin and Josepka (CZAJKOWSKI) SCZYPIORSKI.

 

He grew up here and worked for Heagle Manufacturing Company.


He later moved to California and worked for Douglas Aircraft Company. He then served in the US Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946.


He came back to Stanley and worked for Heagle Manufacturing until 1949, when he purchased the Sunnyline Valley Tavern, which he owned for a year.


He then farmed north of Owen until 1958 and then worked construction in the Madison and Milwaukee areas.


In 1973 he retired and moved to Owen, where he resided until 1996 when he moved to Oakbrook Manor.
