Hubert Kuehn (1893 - 1987)


Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 3 at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Greenwood, for Hubert Kuehn, 94, Greenwood. He died at 12:10 pm., Saturday October 31 at the Stanley Nursing Home.


The Rev. John Tschudy officiated and burial was in the Westside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Allan Hodnett, Lynn Hodnett, Robert Abramczak, Dennis Stephan, Dale Kuehn, Bernard Orsburn and Larry Hodnett.


He was born August 31, 1893 to Ferdinand and Mary (nee Scheid) Kuehn in the town of Warner. He received his education at Decker and German Reformed Schools in the town of Warner.


When he was 17 he moved to Horicon where he worked as a laborer at the Van Brunt Manufacturing Company until 1911 when he moved back to the family farm. He farmed until 1958, but continued living on the farm in retirement until 1967 when he moved to the City of Greenwood.


He married Lena Seibold November 11, 1914 at Greenwood. She preceded him in death May 31, 1983. He was a member of the Immanuel Church of Christ.


Surviving are a son, Harold, Owen; two daughters, Mrs. John (Ivalyn) Stephan, Waldo and Mrs. Harold (Eileen) Hodnett, Withee; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death besides his wife and parents are three sons, one sister one brother and one half-brother.
