----- Knoll, Janet G. #3 (30 JUN 1962)

Honeymooning in Yellowstone National Park are Mr. and Mrs. Norman H. Schmidt, who were married Saturday, June 30, 1962 in St. John's Lutheran Church at Colby. Rev. B.F. Matter performed the 1:30 p.m. ceremony for the daughter and son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Knoll, route 2, Colby, and Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Schmidt, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.). Vern Dahlby, who sang "The Lord's Prayer" and "Today O Lord," was accompanied by Paulette Zimmerman.

The former Janet Gayle Knoll entered the church in a floor length bridal gown of hand clipped Chantilly lace designed with a scalloped Sabrina neckline, jeweled with sequins and seed pearls. It was styled with long sleeves and basque waist. The front of the full hoop skirt featured a tulle flounce, the back having alternating rows of lace and tulle ruffles. A crown of Chantilly lace outlined with seed pearls and jeweled with sequins held the illusion fingertip veil, which featured an edging of scalloped Chantilly lace.

She carried a cascade arrangement of a large white orchid surrounded by red sweetheart roses and white stephanotis having white streamers with red rose buds attached.

Matron of honor for her sister was Mrs. Donald Newman of Unity, and bridesmaids were Jane Ewald of Unity and JoAnn Hium of Greenwood. They were dressed identically in frocks of Chantilly lace over taffeta styled with a scoop neckline, cap sleeves and semi-full bell shaped skirts. Their headpieces were of matching rose clips and face veil. They held colonial bouquets of white carnations with edges tinted blue and having a white background and blue and white ribbon streamers.

Debra Ewald of Colby was the flower girl, and ring bearer was David Newman of Unity, a nephew of the bride.

A brother-in-law of the bride, Donald Newman of Unity, was best man, and groomsmen were Gerald Gottschald of East Moline, Ill. and Kenneth Schmidt, a brother of the groom from route 1, Loyal.

Ushering duties were performed by LaVerne Knoll, the bride's brother from Marshfield and George Brenner of Loyal.

A reception after the ceremony was held at the home of the bride's parents, and a 4:30 supper was served in the church basement. A dance was held at the Sportmen's Park at Colby.

The bride is a 1962 graduate of Colby High School and her husband graduated from Loyal High School in 1957. He is a Clark County Highway Department employee. The couple will make their home at Loyal.

Wedding guests attended from Marshfield, Spender, Loyal, Wis. Rapids, Colby, Abbotsford, Unity, Milwaukee, Hartford, Rudolph, Withee, Greenwood, Shreveport, La., Barron, Sheboygan, Wausau and Illinois.
