Sunday’s snow looked like real winter and the first cold wave of the winter rode in Sunday night on a wind of about sixty miles an hour that sent the thermometer hunting for the bottom of the tube, but got hung up at sixteen below zero Monday morning. Everybody was glad to see the moderation that followed on Tuesday.

The Ladies Aid met at the church Thursday of last week and served dinner at which the receipts netted them the neat little sum of $7.65 besides being of sufficient drawing power to bring out the men to saw and pile a handsome pile of wood. The following officers of the Aid were elected at the meeting:

President, Mrs. Carrie E. Haertl.

Vice Pres., Miss Anna Ketelle.
Secretary, Miss Susie Ketelle.
Treas. Mrs. Louisa F. Robinson.

Ed. Hahm returned from his trip to California last Sunday.

E.L. Haertl came home Sunday from Neenah to which city he will return in a few days.

Edwin, Anna and Susie Ketelle were both to let the last good roads problem pass without making another auto trip to Lindsey to call on a few friends.

Friday of last week W.J. Robinson made a shipment of ten sacks of buckwheat to the Pittsville grist mill to have it made into pancake material. So if you like pancakes you will know where to get um.

Nellie Broker was a passenger on Friday’s outgoing train for a visit with friends at Green Bay.

Lindsey’s school was closed for Wednesday and Thursday on account of the teacher, Miss Sager attending the School Board convention at Grand Rapids.

At the last Aid meeting a committee of three, comprising Miss Anna Ketelle, Mrs. Robinson and Mrs. Haertl was appointed to purchase some needed articles for said society. And Tuesday Edwin Ketelle took the committee to Marshfield in his auto on a tour of inspection. They report a fine trip even though it may seem out of the season for autoing.

Friday of last week the engine had to cut loose from the train at Lindsey and run to Lynn for water and then came back for the train.

A new feature of merchandise has been added to the post office store, that of supplying bread, both rye and wheat. This is certainly a staple if only there is sufficient demand to make the venture a financial success so that it can be maintained.

Last Tuesday Miss Susie Ketelle spent the day visiting Mrs. Laura Haertl.

It is already being demonstrated that the scales put in by W.P. Opelt is proving a great advantage and convenience to the public besides being a source of some revenue to the owner.

The ladies aid will hold a sociable at the church this Friday evening at which a short program rendered and after which a lunch of cake and coffee will be served.

District Clerk, W.J. Robinson attended the school board convention at Grand Rapids Wednesday and Thursday, returning on Friday’s train.

County Superintendent George A. Varney visited the Lindsey school last Tuesday for a short time.
