Funeral services were held at the Myre Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, for George V. Klein, 80, Loyal, with Rev. V.A. Ganz, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial was made in the Loyal Cemetery. Mr. Klein died of a heart attack Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Earl Nelson, in Eau Claire.

Mr. Klein was born in Wilton, Iowa, Feb. 14, 1882, and married the former Katherine Schnoor on Dec. 14, 1904 in Wilton. He farmed in that area until 1913, when he moved to a farm in the town of Beaver, Clark County. Since 1952 he had lived in Loyal. For the past two weeks he had been visiting with his daughter in Eau Claire.

He had been a member of the school and town boards in the town of Beaver for many years.

Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Albert (Bertha) Ampe, Ogallala, Neb.; Mrs. Eugene (Ida) Klein, Neenah; Mrs. Phillip (Martha) Schanke, Rothschild; Mrs. Robert (Anna) Underwood, New Carlisle, Ohio, and Mrs. Earl (Florence) Nelson, Eau Claire; four sons, John, Loyal; Walter, Davenport, Iowa; Earl, Eau Claire, and George, Lincoln; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.

Pallbearers were Leon Steinwald, Henry Anderegg, Clair Lyon, Melvin Zettler, Henry Rottjer and Ulysses Cain. “In the Garden” and “Under His Wings” were sung by Mrs. Erwin Dux and Mrs. Erwin Noeldner. Mrs. Kenneth Hansen accompanied them at the organ.

Relatives and friends from out of town attending were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ampe and family, Ogallala, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Klein and family, Neenah; Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Schanke and family, Rothschild; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Underwood, New Carlisle, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Nelson and family, Earl Klein, Eau Claire; Walter Klein, Tom Cook, Davenport, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. George Klein and family, Lincoln, Neb., Mr. and Mrs. Louis Schnoor, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schoor, Rock Island, Ill…(the rest of my copy was cut off.)
