Wangen, James Kermit (29 May 1920 - 3 April 2012)

 

James K. Wangen, 91, of Loyal died Tuesday, April 3, 20112, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

 

James Kermit Wangen was born May 29, 1920, in Cashton, the son of Christ and Inga (Hall) Wangen.  He was raised on the family farm and received his education in the Cashton area, graduating from Cashton High School in 1939.  Jim was baptized and confirmed at North Coon Prairie Lutheran Church.  Jim was united in marriage to Jane Mitby July 1, 1945, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cashton. They moved to Loyal, where Jim farmed, was a livestock dealer and was a salesman for the Renk Seed Company for 25 years.  Jim had an insurance agency in Cashton with Wisconsin Farmers Mutual of Juneau for 25 years.  He also sold crop and hail insurance for Farmers Mutual Insurance Company for 25 years.  Jim resided in Loyal until the time of his death.

 

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal and was a member of the Loyal Lions Club.  Jim had many interests but especially enjoyed square dancing, bowling and golfing.

 

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Jane, of Loyal; four nephews, Roger (Barb) Erickson of Lake Havasu City, AZ, John Mills of La Crosse, John (Julie) Mitby of Madison; and two nieces, Margaret Mills (Rick Onsrud) of La Crosse and Peggy Huskey of Eden Prairie, MN.

 

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Marge Erickson.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiated, and burial followed in North Coon Prairie Lutheran Cemetery in Newry.

 

Pallbearers were Frances Voit, Bob Fellenz, Vaughn Loos, Irban Aumann, Arnold Becker, Ray Oestreich and Clifford Thorson.
