Karnitz, Kerry L. (26 January 1952 - 3 April 2012)

Kerry L. Karnitz, 60, of Wausau died Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born Jan. 26, 1952, in Neillsville, the son of Virginia (Dux) Karnitz and the late Kenneth Karnitz.  He married Joy Gunderson May 25, 1974, in Neillsville.

Kerry was a CPA and a partner in the accounting firm of Krause-Howard & Company SC.  He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wausau, having served on the church council and other advisory and volunteer committees through the years.

Kerry was first and foremost a family man - spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren took priority in his life - in every sense of the word; he was their hero.  He enjoyed walking, traveling and reading. His memberships in various organizations included Early Bird Rotary, the Talent Shop Advisory Board of Directors of Lutheran Social Services.

Survivors include his wife, Joy Karnitz, Wausau; two daughters, Kristin (Wayne) Kallio, Wausau, and their children; Emily, Grace and Andrew and Amy (Calvin) Hesse, Wausau, and their children, Zander and Braysen; his mother, Virginia Karnitz, Neillsville; one sister, Lynnette (Mel) Mueller, Neillsville; his mother-and father-in-law, Jean and Forrest Gunderson, Jr., New Berlin; one brother-in-law, Dan (Astrid) Gunderson, DeLand, FL.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 630 Adams St. Wausau.  Rev. Sean Motley and Rev. David Larson officiated. Burial was in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.  Visitation was Monday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, and again Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
