Saturday, August 23, was the day chosen for the marriage of Miss Luanne Schmidtke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schmidtke and Harvey D. Spangler, son of Mrs. Bessie Spangler, Neillsville. The event took place at the York Center Methodist Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Wendell Bennetts, Plainfield, officiated.

The bride was attired in a floor length gown of chantille lace and tulle. Her skirt featured panels of lace and tulle while the bodice was lace accented with a V-scalloped neckline outlined with sequins, and long sleeves. She wore a double strand of pearls, and a crown head piece trimmed in sequins, pearls and rhinestones with a fingertip veil.

Miss Norita Schmidtke, was her sister’s maid of honor. She wore a floor length gown of lace and tulle net, strapless style with a matching lace jacket and a bodice of lace. Her full skirt was of ruffles over gathered net. A sister of the groom, Miss Rita Spangler, Neillsville, was bridesmaid wearing a similar gown. The two carries fans made of lace entwined with yellow carnations and blue mums.

James Spangler, Neillsville, brother of the groom was best man. Groomsman was Algene Schmidtke, Granton, brother of the bride. Ushering were Harvey Denenhardt, brother-in-law of the bride and Ronald Freedlund, Pittsville, cousin of the bride. Marlene Andedegg sang "O Perfect Love" and "Because."

A reception and supper was held at the home of the bride’s parents. The bride is a graduate of the Loyal High School class of 1955 and has been employed at Highland Park, Illinois for thr past three years while the groom is a graduate of the Loyal High School class of 1951, and a 1956 graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a bachelor of science in engineering.

The bride’s mother attended the wedding in a grey Bemberg while the groom’s mother viewed the ceremony in a blue pleated Dacron dress.

The couple will reside for the next three months at Fort Sheridan, Illinois.
