Stevens, Rose (21 March 1880 - 1 December 1965)

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Rose (Louis) Stevens, 85, of Humbird, who died December 1, in Community Hospital in Black River Falls, were held Saturday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. Gale Wolf of Neillsville officiated.  Burial was made in the Town of Mentor Cemetery, near Humbird.

 

Mrs. Stevens, the former Rose Young, was born March 21, 1880, in Clark County and had lived her entire lifetime within three miles of that place in which she was living at the time of her death.   On November 2, 1896, she was married to Louis Stevens, who died in 1937.

 

Mrs. Stevens is survived by 12 children: Mrs. Chris (Mamie) Ivanish, Harry Stevens, Mrs. Steve (Lula) Kuboskie, Edward, Daisy, Archie and Mike Stevens, Mrs. Vern (Emma) Mitchell, Dot Stevens, Mrs. Rose Horton, Mrs. Eugene (Ida) Ranta, and Ernest Stevens.  Other survivors include 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

 

She was a member of the United Church of Christ of Humbird.

 

Wilfred Galstad sang "Rock of Ages" and "Nearer My God to Thee" accompanied by Mrs. Jas. A. Musil.

 

Pallbearers were: Louis and Bernard L. Mitchell, Robert Zebro, Ed Kubaskie, Wilmer Sommerfield, and Arthur McLeod.

 

People from out of town attending the service included: Mike Stevens of Walla Walla, Wash.; Archie Stevens of Millville, Minn.; Mrs. Emma Mitchell, Bernard and Dixie Mitchell of Colfax; Louis Mitchell of Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zebro of Wheeler; Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Sommerfield of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Ranta, Mrs. Rose Horton, and Miss Dot Stevens of Great Falls, Mont.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Young, Mr. and Mrs. Art McLeod, Cindy and Bonnie McLeod, and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Young of Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Mitchell of Black River Falls; Mrs. Clem Trader of Marshfield; Harry Stevens, Mrs. Steve Kubaskie, Ed Kubaskie and son, Daisy Stevens, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Stevens, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Kirby, Wesley and Milton Washburn, Mrs. Freda Barr, Mrs. Nina Stuve, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Markham, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rupnow, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Perry, and Mrs. Margaret Jennings, all of Humbird; Mr. and Mrs. Felix Krause of Loyal; Arnold Stevens and Rachel Shones of Millville, Minn.
