Hannan, Judith Kathleen (Marriage - 6 November 1965)

Vows were exchanged last Saturday in a nuptial mass in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal, uniting in marriage Miss Judith Hannan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Hannan of Loyal, and Loren Charles Virnig, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Virnig of Rt. 1 Granton.

The Rev. Edward Bertz of La Crosse, a cousin of the bride, performed the mass.  Wedding music was furnished by the children’s choir of St. Anthony’s, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Edward Trnka.  Two vases filled with white and blue chrysanthemums graced the sanctuary, and a bouquet of six red roses was place at Mary’s shrine.

For her wedding Miss Hannan chose a floor-length gown of silk organza over taffeta, with the bodice styled with a bateau neckline.  Lace appliqués with seed pearl trim accented the front of the controlled skirt. Silk organza outlined the lace monk’s cape train, which was detachable.  A soft cloud of pure silk illusion floated from a handmade crown of lace, crystal and pearls.  She carried a single, long-stemmed red rose.

Miss Mary Ellen Bertz of Neillsville, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor.  Miss Mina Daniels of Madison, another cousin, was bridesmaid.  Both attendants wore identical dresses of Waterloo blue floor length formals of peau de soie, styled with bateau necklines. A-line skirts were trimmed at the front waistlines with small bows. The backs featured set-in panels of moonlight mist blue formed by unpressed pleats accented by a large bow.  They wore matching open crown pillbox headpieces with bow trim and pouf veils. Their bouquets were blue and white chrysanthemums.

Ronald Nelson of Marshfield was bestman.  James Ashbeck, a cousin of the groom from Blenker, was groomsman. Ushers were Roman Virnig of Marshfield and Hilmer Stobel of Neosho, an uncle of the bride.

The wedding day events included a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Loyal Amusement hall; a 4:30 p.m. dinner in St. Anthony’s dining hall, and a dance.

The bride, a 1964 graduate of Loyal High School, has been employed as a bookkeeper in Marshfield.  Mr. Virnig, a 1956 graduate of Granton High School, is a shipping clerk in Marshfield.

Their wedding trip is to Ft. Sill, Okla., where they plan to visit his brother, Denis Virnig, of the 77th Army band, and other places of interest along the route.

Mr. and Mrs. Virnig plan to make their home on Rt. 1 Marshfield.
