Washburn (17 June 1965)

 

The Cannonville Ladies Aid will meet at the home of Mrs. Cora Skretteberg today (Thursday) at 1:30 p.m.  A lunch will be served following the meeting.

 

The Washburn Homemakers club is planning a family picnic Sunday, June 27.  No definite place has been decided yet, but will be published next week.

 

Bible school will be held at the Cannonville Church next week, June 21 through 25.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Don Stewart, son, Jeff, and daughters, Jovey and Jana, of Verona, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short. The Stewarts returned home early Saturday morning from a two-week, 5,500 mile trip through Wisconsin, northern Michigan into Canada, then east to Montreal and Quebec, and followed the St. Lawrence seaway and river; then went into New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, to Maine, and drove through many eastern states. They visited friends in Massachusetts, then spent last week Thursday night in Belmont, N. Y., with Mr. Stewart’s navy buddy and his family.  His mother Mrs. Frank Stewart accompanied them.

 

Lawrence Kyle arrived home Saturday from Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., where he finished reserve training. John Pettit met him in Madison.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Bud Elberts returned to their home in Spirit Lake, Ia., Wednesday after spending four weeks with her mother, Mrs. Art Odell.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Luebke Janesville called at the Ralph Short home Saturday. They were on their way to Nelson Lake, north of Hayward to spend a week’s vacation.  Mr. Luebke has spent a few days of deer hunting season every fall at the Short home for the last 10 or 12 years.

 

Mrs. Peter Misovy and a son, Bryan, and Miss Cecilia Swatzina of Milwaukee, spent the weekend with the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Kyle.  Other Sunday visitors there were Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Swatzina and son, Gordon and Mr. and Mrs. Pete Swatzina of Gilman.

 

Harry Carstensen and (blotch) Schmidt called at the Mrs. Odell home last week Tuesday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. George Allbaugh were dinner guests Sunday at the home of Mrs. Ed Short.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Leon Mathews and daughter, Sara Jo, of West Bend spent Saturday night with her sister, Mrs. Oliver Williams and family.
