Spanjer, Roger L. (23 January 1956 - 7 February 2012)

 

Roger L. Spanjer, 56, of Neillsville died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville.

 

Roger was born Jan. 23, 1956, in Beatrice, NE, the son of Fred and Viola (Harms) Spanjer. He received his education at Beatrice. Roger was united in marriage to Susan Wedemann Oct. 8, 1982, at Open Bible Church, Charles City, IA.  He was employed as a dogcatcher and mechanic. He also worked five years at Short’s Fur Farm in Neillsville.  He enjoyed fishing, animals and monster trucks.

 

Roger is survived by his wife, Susan Spanjer of Neillsville; children, Maria (Joshua) Barney, Florida, Joseph Spanjer, Eau Claire, Fred Spanjer, Neillsville, Ruth (Roy Armstrong Jr.) Spanjer, Neillsville, and Justin Spanjer, Medford; six grandchildren, Bridget, Ryan, Gabby and Carl England, Jr., Keith Jr. and Kody Szaflarski; one brother, Gene (Shirley) Spanjer, Fairbury, NE; one sister, Karron; and mother-in-law, Mary Wuerzberger.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Derek Lee Spanjer.

 

A memorial service for Roger was held Sunday, Feb. 12, at Buchanan Funeral Home, Neillsville, with Rev. Judy Anderson-Bauer presiding.  The family greeted friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
