Will Haertl had business that called him to the county seat Monday for a few days.

 

Tilton and Hahm shipped a carload of cattle on Monday’s train.  Mr. Hahm went to Chicago to see them safely through.

 

Will and Ed Haertl shingled the wood shed at the Lindsey school last week.

 

It is reported that Mrs. Fagan was badly burned about the face and head Monday while trying to save some hay stacks from forest fires.  But her efforts were futile and she was obliged to see several tons of hay to up in smoke.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Knudsen of Progress had dinner at Robinson’s on Sunday.

 

Harry Washburn returned last Saturday from Iowa with a sprained wrist.

 

August Broker was called to Madison on business Monday.

 

The Misses Anna and Susie Ketelle were passengers on Wednesday’s outgoing train for Randolph to visit relatives.

 

Dr. and Mrs. Lovesee went to Monticello Wednesday of last week to visit their daughter.

 

Mrs. August Broker was a passenger on Wednesday’s outgoing train for Iowa County to visit relatives.

 

A change was made in the time table changing the train on the Lynn line to Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Herb House and 2 children were callers on Perry Stone over in Clark County on Sunday.

 

Your correspondent begs the pardon of the Editor and readers of the News for his failure to write the items last week.

 

W.C. Washburn purchased the Florence hay press last Monday.

 

The sudden cold weather put an abrupt end to fall plowing in these parts.

 

Max Opelt shipped a carload of potatoes from this station last week.
