Koplitz, Henry (16 NOV 1882 - 15 OCT 1962)

 

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19th, 1962, at the First Congregational Church, Owen, for Mr. Henry Koplitz, who passed away Monday evening, Oct. 15, 1962, after a two-month illness.  Mr. Koplitz had attained the age of 79 years, 11 months.  The Rev. Ralph Claybaugh officiated and burial was made at Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

 

Pallbearers were Chris Backe, Harry Baehr, George Baehr, Albert Jensen, Swan Peterson and Shurleigh Grimes.  Floral arrangements were carried by Mrs. Shurleigh Grimes, Mrs. Swan Peterson, Mrs. Harry Baehr, and Mrs. Chris Backe.

 

Soloist, Mrs. Orpha Marshall, accompanied by Mrs. Maxine Christopherson, sang "It is Well with My Soul."

 

Mr. Koplitz was born Nov. 16, 1882 in Omro, Wis., and received his education there.  In 1902 he and his parents moved to Withee (Clark Co.), Wis., where they developed a farm from the woodland.  In 1913 Mr. Koplitz established his own farm west of the Black River on Highway 29, and was married to the former Lillian Chase of Neillsville.  To this union was born four children.  Over the years Mr. Koplitz developed on of the finer dairy farms in northern Clark County.  In October 1958, he and his wife retired and purchased a home in Owen.

 

He is survived by three sons, Lester of Chicago, Ill.; Harold, Curtiss, Wis., and Dr. Eugene Koplitz of Greeley, Colo.; one daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Myrtice) Tieman, Owen, Wis.; six grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Melcher, La Morada, Calif., and Mrs. Francis Mongon, Omro, Wis.  Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

 

Relatives attending the final rites were: Dr. Eugene D. Koplitz, Greeley, Colo.; Lester Koplitz, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Francis Mongon and Mrs. Veronica Lender, Omro; Mrs. Marguerite Prill and Mrs. Kathryn Cross, Oshkosh; Mr. Walter Como, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Egan, Waukesha; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tieman Sr., Beloit; Miss Flora Bartholomay, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Abel, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. George Bertier and daughter, Waupaca; Mr. William Lawrence, Hixton; Mrs. Mayme Fraling, Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Benson, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. William Theilen Sr., Humbird; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Tieman Sr., Greenwood; Mrs. Herman Bartholomay, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Koplitz, Withee; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schindler and family, Curtiss; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Riber, Mrs. Anna Koplitz, Owen, and a host of friends from Owen, Withee, Curtiss, Abbotsford, Thorp, Greenwood and Florida.

 

A short prayer service was conducted by the Rev. beryl Knudsen in the absence of Rev. Claybaugh at the Hoper-Kraut Funeral parlors Thursday evening.
