  Adams, Roy(08 Nov. 1875 - 08 Apr. 1959)

 

Roy Adams, 83, died at a convalescent home in Neillsville, Wednesday, April 8, at 12:30 p.m. of old age complications.

He was born Nov. 8, 1875 at Iola.  He came to the town of Beaver when he was 18 years old and most of his life was spent on a farm in that township.  About 1910 he bought his own farm in Beaver.  His early years were spent, during the winter months, in logging camps.

He was married to Emma Salzwedel at Loyal, April 12, 1899.  She died in 1929.

He is survived by one son, Percy Adams of Shelton, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Mike (Adeline) Groth of Cedarburg, and Mrs. Louis (Beatrice) Kohlbeck of Marshfield; one sister, Mrs. Oscar Nelson of Iola; two brothers, Charles Adams and Louis Adams of Iola; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Donovan and Floyd, and two brothers, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Alfred Attwood at the Myre Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Saturday.  Burial was in the Loyal cemetery.

The hymns, "God will Take Care" and What a Friend We Have in Jesus," were sung by Miss Nelda Foelske with Mrs. Byron Zepplin as organist.

Pallbearers were Lacey Philpott, Frank Kline, Herman Schefus, James Smith, Ray Prior, and John Bannach.

Among those from our of town who attended the services were:  Mr. and Mrs. Mike Groth, Cedarburg; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kohlbeck, Marshfield; Mr. Louis Adams, Sr., Mr. Louis Adams Jr., Mr. Oscar Nelson, and Mrs. Lawrence Kruevoldt, Iola; Mr. Charles Adams, Ogdenburg; Mrs. Larry Lowe and Mrs. Willington Adams, Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. Orin J. Kohlbeck, Oshkosh; and Mrs. Lawrence Tessmer, Eau Claire.
