Greenwood Locals (7 May 1964)

 

The Salem Aid meeting will be held Tuesday instead of Wednesday afternoon in the basement of Zion United Church. The hostess will be Mrs. Adolph Wessel.

 

Mrs. Leonard Olson was elected president, and Mrs. A. C. Standiford treasurer, at the meeting of the Come and Know Homemakers Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Matt Gregorich. The health and safety lesson was presented by Mrs. Richard Bauer. The group has put in a window display in Kay’s shop in observance of Home Demonstration week.

 

James Metcalf was admitted last Thursday to the University Hospital in Madison.  Mrs. Metcalf left Tuesday to be with her husband.

 

Mrs. Jake Speich and daughter, Violet attended the baptism of her grandson, the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Speich, at the United Church in Osseo Sunday.  The baby was named Jacob John. Sponsors were Mr. and Mrs. Donald Speich of Eau Claire.  Other dinner and supper guests at the Speich home were the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Norris; and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Norris; and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kittleson and family all of Osseo.

 

Mrs. A. S. Rushka, and Mrs. Robert Funke of New Holstein, and Mrs. Gordon Amundson of Emerald, arrived Tuesday to visit their mother, Mrs. O. J. Amundson. For the weekend they were joined by Mr. Funke and Mrs. Amundson.  All returned to their homes Sunday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stewart visited in Appleton Wednesday with their daughter, Mrs. Esper Jepsen, who is a patient in Memorial Hospital there.  Saturday evening they visited their son, Robert, and his family in Stanley.

 

Matt Lindner and daughter, Loretta, returned Saturday after spending three weeks with relatives in Hales Corners, Milwaukee and Chicago.

 

Sunday afternoon and supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Orlin Fravert, were Mr. and Mrs. Uno Kolpanen of Owen. Thursday evening visitors at the Fravert home were Mr. and Mrs. Russell Haslow of Loyal.

 

The Rev. and Mrs. Otto Stockmeier of Holgate, O., left Thursday morning after spending several days here with their nieces, Mrs. Alma Busch and Mrs. William Kuester, and their nephew, William Goeke, and their families.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Myron Kenyon left Thursday for Green Bay to spend several days with their daughter, Mrs. Harvey Humke and family.

 

Alan Bushman, 17-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bushman was dismissed Friday from Memorial Hospital at Neillsville, where he had received medical care for a week.

 

St. Frances group of St. Mary’s Catholic Church met Wednesday afternoon at the home of their chairman, Mrs. James Lindner. 

 

Mr. and Mrs. Purnell Thompson and family of Columbus spent the weekend at the Harold Hendrickson home and attended the junior prom Saturday evening. Barbara Hendrickson was the prom queen.
