Jeras, Marie (1 FEB 1908 - 3 OCT 1993)

 

GREENWOOD - Mrs. Marie Jeras, 85, died at 10:50 a.m. Sunday at the Marshfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a patient since Aug. 21, 1990.

 

Graveside services and burial will be Tuesday in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Greenwood. The Rev. Steven H. Baures of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood, will officiate.

 

Hansen Funeral Home, Marshfield, is handling arrangements.

 

She was born Feb. 1, 1908, in Calumet, Mich., to the late John and Ana (Dragosh) Verschay.  She later moved to Willard with her parents, where the family farmed.  She attended Clark County schools.  She was married to Valentine Jeras Aug. 23, 1930, in Willard, and he died Aug. 15, 1970.

 

After her education, she worked in Chicago for several years.  She and her husband later moved to Kansas City, Mo., and she worked as a dietician in a hospital there. After the death of her husband, she moved to Greenwood.  She moved to Marshfield 14 years ago.

 

Survivors include three sisters, Jean Isaacson of Rochester, N.Y., Mrs. Cecil (Christine) Anderson of Peculiar, Mo., and Mrs. Sam (Kay) Grap of Marshfield; one brother John Verschay of Neillsville; and nieces and nephews.

 

She was also predeceased by one brother, Joe Verschay, and one sister, Ann Meyer.
