O’Grady, Colleen M. (8 March 1986)

Navy Captain Wyrick officiated during the March 8, wedding ceremony of Colleen M. O’Grady and Bradley J. Kopp. The marriage took place in the pilot house of the U.S.S. Conyngham at the U.S. Naval Base, Norfolk, Virginia. Parents of the couple are Irene West of Cedarbrook, New Jersey; Charles O’Grady of Atlantic City New Jersey; and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Kopp, Jr., Rt. 2 Neillsville.

Attired in a gown of silk illusion over taffeta with Venice lace inserts, lace leg o’mutton sleeves and chapel length train, the bride carried a cascading bouquet of pink sweetheart roses, white mums and baby’s breath. Her silk illusion fingertip veil was held by a floral wreath headpiece.

Maid of honor Franb Little, of New Jersey, wore a pale blue satin gown with floral etching. She carried a colonial bouquet of daisies and spider mums.

The groom and his bestman, E5 Robert Woods, wore the dress uniform of the United States Navy

After the ceremony, a reception was held at the Captain’s Mess and the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Woods, Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Mrs. Kopp is employed as a stylist at Hair quarters, Norfolk, Virginia. A 1984 graduate of Neillsville High School, the groom is an E.2 in the United States Navy stationed out of Norfolk on the U.S.S. Conyngham, which is a part of the Mediterranean fleet. The newlyweds are making their home at 7612 Sheryle Drive, Apt. 8, Norfolk, Virginia.

Attending the wedding from Wisconsin were Mr. and Mrs. Ted Kopp, Jr., Melissa, Jennifer and Angela Kopp.

Stalsberg, Jody L. (8 March 1986)

Brad L, Goetz and Jody L. Stalsberg were united in marriage during an early afternoon ceremony, on March 8, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neillsville. Pastor Richard Weber officiated during the service. Organist Judy Krause, with vocalists Lorraine Stalsberg and Dick Hannum, provided music.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Anderson, Neillsville, and the late John Stalsberg are parents of the bride. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Goetz, Rt. 1 Neillsville.

Escorted to the altar by her stepfather, the bride wore a white gown featuring a portrait neckline, leg o’mutton sleeves of Chantilly lace, and a tiered skirt with daisy lace trim. Her fingertip veil was made of matching Chantilly lace trim. She carried cascade bouquet of white and burgundy roses accented with baby’s breath.

Bridal attendants included matron of honor, Mrs. James Erickson and bridesmaids Karen Henchen, Mrs. George Hart, and Jackie Struensee. All were attired in gowns of burgundy taffeta with Victorian ruffled bodice back, self-peplum, and skirt with Basque waistline. Their bouquets were colonial arrangements of burgundy rosebuds, pink carnations, white stephanotis and baby’s breath. Their halo headpieces were designed with miniature rosebuds and carnations matching their bouquets.

Miniature bride and groom were Tanya Reinart and Brian Hart. Tanya’s bouquet was a miniature duplicate of the bride’s. Her white rosebud and burgundy star flower head pieced featured an attached veil.

Gary Meihak was bestman, while Tom Henchen, Randy Roehl, John Stalsberg, and Tim Kren served as groomsmen. Lee Reinart and Gary Spiegel ushered guests into the church.

A reception and dance, were held at the Neillsville American Legion, following the ceremony. The wedding photography was done by Strack.

Both the bride and groom are graduates of Neillsville High School. She is employed at the A&W Restaurant, while he works for Boon Construction. The couple will reside at Rt. 1, Neillsville.

Gurske, Gary (Promotion - 1986)

“It’s something I’ve been working for my entire career,” is how former Clark County Game Warden Gary Gurske describes his promotion to warden supervisor working out of the La Crosse Department of Natural Resources office.

Gurske had been permanently stationed in Clark County the past 15 years and had resided at Rt. 2, Neillsville. In his new post he will supervise the daily work and plans of DNR field wardens in a four-county area encompassing Vernon, La Crosse, Crawford and Monroe counties. The job change took effect March 15. He is moving his residence to La Crosse.

“I wanted the challenge and the increased responsibilities,” Gurske said.

Gurske replaces Doug Radtke who has been promoted to district warden at the Eau Claire DNR office. No one has yet been tabbed to succeed Gurske, bur an announcement is expected in the next month or two. In the meantime wardens working out of Alma Center and Thorp are covering his former territory.

Gurske said he had already encountered a number of interesting situations in his two weeks on the new job, including a joint operation between the Wisconsin DNR and Iowa game authorities to reduce the over bagging of bass in the Mississippi River and some recent arrests for illegal trout fishing. The turkey season which starts April 23rd should also prove interesting.

Gurske, 42 and a native of Ashland, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 1968 and joined the DNR that year. He was previously stationed at Marshfield and Black River Falls before being posted at Neillsville in 1971.

Clark County-Winona State (Dean’s List - 1986)

Winona State University students who made the Dean’s List for Fall Quarter 1985 were announced by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Charles Sorensen.

For inclusion on the Dean’s List, students must achieve a 3.5 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0.

Clark County FFA (Cattle Judging - 1986)

The annual Clark County FFA dairy cattle judging contest was held this past week at Granton with seven schools participating. Gary Thompson, Tri-State Breeders her analyst, was the official judge.

Team placings were Granton, first; Abbotsford, second; and Spencer, third.

Individual placings were Shelly Cook, Granton, first; Shelly Garbisch, Granton, second; and Tracy Schrieber, Abbotsford, third.

Granton FFA served a dairy lunch after the contest.
