Mrs. G.D. Vincent is home from her visit at Plymouth.

 

Mrs. E.R. Wonser came home from Sheboygan on Monday.

 

W.D. Rose made a business trip to Marshfield on Tuesday.

 

Webb Winn made a business trip to Pittsville on Tuesday.

 

Aug. H. Riedel came home from Wausau Tuesday evening.

 

Miss Mary Schune was over from Neillsville and spent Tuesday with home folk.

 

Geo. Beaver came home on Tuesday from Athens where he had been visiting relatives.

 

Mrs. F.J. Baer spent last Friday engaged with abstract work at the county seat.

 

Rev. Reiff and daughter Charlotte came home from Wausau the first of the week.

 

Miss Inez Holmes visited Chili and Marshfield friends between Tuesday and today.

 

Mrs. Perry and little son are her from Humbird visiting at the Geo Hart home since Tuesday.

 

Miss Marion Hort, after a several days visit a the Wm. Klein home, returned to Marshfield on Tuesday.

 

Mrs. Grob, after a week’s visit with Mrs. Jos. Reiff, went home to Wausau, Tuesday.

 

Mrs. Elizabeth Fuller and Mrs. Laura Mason will entertain the Circle next Wednesday.

 

Chas. Griepentrog and daughter of Mayville are guests at the Fred Schwantes home since Monday.

 

Fred Schwantes had a shingling bee the first of the week, topping off his new barn.

 

Miss Velma Langley of Greenwood, after a visit with Mrs. S. Winn, went to Neillsville Tuesday.

 

Mrs. G.E. Amidon went to Alma Center Tuesday and spent a few days with friends.

 

Mr. and Mrs. C. Jacobi of Fond du Lac, after a week’s visit at his brother Conrad Jacobi’s here, went home on Tuesday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. H.B. Holmes, J.P. Johnson, Mrs. Otto Garbush, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Garbush, and Dr. P.M. Ross were Neillsville visitors on Tuesday.

 

Miss Birdine Kihn and Master Harold Kihn of Park Falls are visiting at the T.D. Wage home since last Friday.

 

T.Q. Martin of Salisbury, Ind. arrived here Tuesday, since which time he has held religious services nightly for the public At Cannonville.

 

Miss Irma Albrecht was over from Chili several days last week assisting her sister, Mrs. Alfred Bartz, in the care of baby Marion Bartz who was so seriously ill with pneumonia that for a couple of days her life was all but despaired of.

 

Mrs. Wm. Storm’s birthday as celebrated last Saturday with a rousing birthday surprise party enjoyed by all participants.

 

Mrs. Hattie Beeckler, accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Frances Burdick and sister Blanche, came home from Seymour Saturday.

 

John Bladl was called to Hokah, Minn. last Friday on account of the death of his mother.  He remained for the funeral there on Monday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. John Malamphy and baby Dorothea came over from Chili Sunday and spent the day with her sister, Mrs. John Bladl.

 

J.W. Lovell, after a five week visit at his son Dell’s in Rice Lake, came home Tuesday.  He reports good fishing and an enjoyable visit had.

 

The Richard Kurth and William Schlinsog farms are among those improved with fine new barns this years.

 

Mrs. Clemens Kuechenmeister, Mrs. Otis Slocomb and Mrs. Otto Hantke spent Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Jos. Counsell attending the Ladies Aid.

 

The Misses Helen Wacker, Nelda Fischer and Tillie Iserloth, all of Plymouth, are guests of Miss Hilda Schafer on the Ridge since Monday.

 

Mrs. Amo and her two daughters arrived here from Minneapolis Monday on an extended visit at the Attela Leatherdale home in Spokeville.  Mrs. Leatherdale and son Bert met them here with the auto.

 

Orren Montgomery finished shingling his fine new hip roof barn early this week.

 

Bernhard and Frederick Pietenpol spent Sunday with friends at Merrillan.

 

The Misses Marion Smith, ruth Lee, and Edna Kemmeter went to Marshfield Tuesday afternoon and visited friends.

 

The Otto Garbush home has been much improved internally with plastering, papering and painting, while outwardly it appears in a fine coat of white.

 

Charles and John Bladl came home from Hokah, Minn., Wednesday, accompanied by their bereaved father, who will make an extended visit between their homes.

Mr. and Mrs. Jose Felser, Mrs. Jas. Short, and Mrs. J.W. Van Fleet spent Tuesday at the Marshfield hospital with Mr. Van Fleet, who is rapidly recovering from his recent surgical operation.

 

Mrs. Geo. Cramer and daughter Hazel went to Viola Tuesday evening in response to intelligence of the serious illness of a near relatives residing there.

 

Whooping cough is quite prevalent in town and it is not entirely entertained by children, for some of the girls who are old enough to have beaus are quite occupied with a visit of the whooping cough.

 

Judge Schoengarth, Mrs. August Schoengarth, Mrs. John Wolf, Mrs. Geo. Ure, Mrs. Geo Jacque, with Mrs. Laura Schwinn of Sioux City, Iowa, came over from Neillsville and helped Mrs. Baer celebrate her birthday on Saturday evening.

 

The Reichert Bros., Ferdinand Reichert as jeweler and Albion Reichert as photographer, moved in and took possession of their new place of business this week and each is now present to meet customers in his respective business.  They have the building nicely fitted up with well filled show cases and a display of goods.  The photograph department is nicely equipped with rugs and curtains and the whole building well lighted for the work in hand.  At night artificial light of great power and brilliancy illuminates the place.

 

The Granton Brass Band will give a show and dance at the Granton Opera House Saturday evening, July 26, at the M.W.A. Hall, Chili, Wednesday, July 30th, at Nasonville Saturday, Aug. 2nd, and Shortville Town Hall Saturday, Aug. 9th.  The band will be assisted by the Misses Louis Kolb and Martha Schilling of the Broken Idol Co. of Chciago, Miss Elva Thayer will act as pianist.

 

Knorr & Rausch sold two Ford touring cars this week, one to Henry Albrecht and the other to Oscar Jahr.

 

Walter Moldenhauer is the proud owner of a Case touring car, which he purchased of Madison parties last week.

 

Mrs. Henry Agin announce that Ray Geo. Dowey of Grand Rapids, Wis. will be at the Fisk Lee schoolhouse Sunday afternoon prepared to organize a Sunday school.  A good attendance is especially solicited for this initial meeting next Sunday.
