Hansen, William Gustave (11 September 1884 - 23 June 1963)

 

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon for William Gustave Hansen, 78, of Neillsville, who died Sunday at the Bethel Convalescent Home in Arpin. The Rev. Lloyd Mauer officiated at services from the Georgas Funeral Home.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mr. Hansen, was born September 11, 1884, in Marathon County, the son of the late Carl and Martha (Frederickson) Hansen.  He attended school in Marathon County and as a young man worked with his father as a helper to a stone mason. This trade he carried on until his retirement a few years ago.

 

His first wife, the former Emma Bowman, preceded him in death.

 

He is survived by his second wife, the former Mattie Minsaas, and 17 children, including Carl Hansen and Mrs. Sidney (Helen) Purdy of Milwaukee; Mrs. Frank (Agnes) Steigen of California; and Mrs. Donald (Verna) Evanson, address unknown.  They are the children of his first marriage.  Those from the second marriage are: Mrs. Wesley (Virginia) Kuehn, and William Hansen, Jr., of Neillsville; Richard Hansen of Waukesha; Carroll, Harold and Ronald Hansen of Spencer; Marlene and Irene Hansen of Marshfield; Mrs. Raymond (Mildred) Kopinske and Mrs. Ralph (Arlene) Kopinske of Fairchild; Mavis, Dennis and James, at home.

 

Other survivors include three sisters, Mary, Julia and Thyra, addresses unknown; 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
