Greenwood (13 June 1963)

 

Mrs. Mary Ule underwent surgery Friday afternoon in Memorial Hospital at Neillsville.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pekol have moved from Willard into the Arch residence, three miles west of here, which was vacated recently by the John Staut family, who moved to La Crosse.

 

Mrs. Catherine Braun of Eau Claire and Miss Jean Braun of Milwaukee spent the weekend at the home of their mother, Mrs. Blanche Braun.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Severson and daughter, Carol, and Mrs. John Susa, Jr., left Saturday morning to visit relatives in Milwaukee.

 

Mrs. Gregg Hinker and children, Gary and Cheryl, of Ossian, Ia., spent from Thursday until Sunday with her mother, Mrs. Frances Hinker, and her brother, Sylvester Hinker and his family.

 

Faye Friske returned to Whitewater Friday after spending a week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Adelbert Wells, and with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Friske.

 

Mrs. Emma Butcher of Chicago, Ill., and Miss Lulu Reese of Logansport, Ill., former Greenwood residents, left Friday for Madison for a visit with relatives.  They spent a week here with their brother Dave Reese, and his family.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Meyer returned Monday after a week’s visit with their daughter, Mrs. Lester Abel, and her family.

 

The Adult Fellowship will meet Sunday evening in Zion United Church.  Mrs. Caroline Horn and the Rev. and Mrs. Orval Egbert will be hosts.

 

The Braun Settlement 4-H club will meet this (Thursday) evening in the Braun Settlement School.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Everett Nelson arrived Tuesday from Los Angeles, Calif., for a visit with her sister, Mrs. Lee Corey, and other relatives.

 

Mrs. Mary Ryan, John Slovnik, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Toivo Ryoti, who were called here by the death of their sister, Mrs. Tony Grum, returned to Waukegan, Ill., Saturday. 

 

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ampe and family attended graduation exercises held Sunday at River Falls State College.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hare and family arrived Friday from Valley City, S. D., to spend several days with his brother, Charles Hare and his family.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Christie visited in Neillsville Sunday at the home of his brother, Free Christie.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gehery, who spent a week with her mother, Mrs. Lee Larson, and other relatives, has returned to Hillside, N. J.

 

Mrs. Paul Ampe and sons, Paul, Jr., and Arlyn, accompanied by Mrs. Ray Miller of Loyal, spent Thursday in Madison.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Lee Larson entertained relatives and friends Saturday evening in the Legion Hall at a graduation and welcome home party held in honor of her son and daughter, James Pipkorn, a 1963 graduate, and his sister, Mrs. Robert Gehery and her husband, who arrived here from Hillside, N. J., for a visit.  Guests were the honorees’ grandfather, Archie Ampe of Loyal; and Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Gotter and family of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Arlyn Ewert of Unity; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Houpt and family of Granton; Mrs. Harold Neumann and daughter, Kay, of Loyal; Miss Edith Schoengarth of Neillsville; (and if more names, they were missing).
