Lind, Beverly Ann (Becker) (March 13, 1930 - October 19, 2011)

Beverly Ann Lind, 81, Abbotsford, formerly of Lancaster, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at the Inncare Assisted Living Facility in Abbotsford, Wisconsin.

Beverly was born March 13, 1930. She was the oldest of five children and the daughter of Margaret (Leist) Becker and Elmer Becker.

She grew up in Stitzer and attended the 2-room State Graded School. Beverly graduated from Fennimore High School as the class Salutatorian in 1948. She received her teaching degree in 1951 from the State Teacher’s College at Platteville, Wisconsin.

Beverly married Howard Lind, also of Stitzer, in 1952. They had one child, a daughter, Cherie.

She started her teaching career at Spring Green. She also taught a variety of grades at the Stitzer Elementary School before accepting a position as a kindergarten teacher with the Fennimore Public School System. She remained in that position for 22 years, retiring in 1988.

Beverly and Howard relocated to Lancaster in 1991 and lived there until moving to the Pine Ridge Assisted Living Facility in Colby, in 2008.

Beverly enjoyed a variety of hobbies. She loved music, flowers and painting watercolor pictures. She spent hours in her flower gardens and enjoyed sharing her bouquets. She also took pride in giving her paintings to family and friends.

Beverly loved spending time with her three grandchildren. She and Howard traveled to Abbotsford to participate in and watch their many childhood activities. Beverly’s foundation and primary focus throughout life was her deep Christian faith. She was an active member of Saint Peter Lutheran Church in Fennimore before moving to the Abbotsford/Colby area. She led bible studies, taught Sunday School and served on the Parish Board of Education.

Beverly is survived by her daughter, Cherie (Reed) Welsh of Abbotsford. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Josh (Wendy) Welsh of Whitefish Bay, Jordon (Lee) Peterson of Lake Worth, Florida, Jenna Welsh of Shorewood; great-grandchildren, Taylor Joy Welsh, Logan Grace Welsh and Braxton Lee Peterson; three sisters, Anita (Toni) Hatch, Judy (Barry) Chisnell, and Vonda Vorwald. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Howard; and her brother, Norman.

A celebration of Beverly’s life will be held at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford on Saturday, October 29, 2011. A family greeting will be held beginning at 11 a.m., followed by a short memorial service at noon with Reverend Jerome Freimuth officiating. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Inncare of Abbotsford. Beverly was always treated with love, kindness and respect by their dedicated care givers.

Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
